The incumbent assigned to the Surgical Service Line/OR. This department consists of seven major Operating Room (OR) suites, one minor procedure room and a cystoscopy suite. Procedures performed in the department include general, orthopedic, vascular, thoracic, urology, plastic, ENT, GYN, neurosurgery and podiatry. Duties of a professional nurse include teaching of health care and the prevention of illness; assessment, nursing diagnosis, nursing care, and counsel; the administration of medications and treatments; the coordination and assistance in the delivery of a plan of health care; and, the teaching of other nursing personnel. Responsible and accountable for all elements of the nursing process when providing and/or supervising direct patient care. Assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates care based on age- and culture-specific components. Assumes responsibility for the coordination of care focused on patient transition through the continuum of care, patient, and family education, patient self-management after discharge, and supporting factors that impact customer satisfaction. The nurse's primary commitment is to the patient, whether an individual, family, group, or community. Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 6:30 am - 3:00 pm, some weekday, weekend and holiday call required (possibility of 10 and 12 hour shifts once orientation is completed).
