This is a Temporary Appointment Not To Exceed (NTE) 12 months. Selected applicants will be assigned to the Mobile Vaccination Clinic. This team will travel to four CBOCs (Columbus-13th and Downtown; Monroeville; and Dothan) to vaccinate as many Veterans and their spouses/caregivers as possible. The Advanced Practice (AP) Nurse in the Patient Care Service executes position responsibilities that demonstrates leadership, experience, and creative approaches to management of complex patient care. Duties include but not limited to: Demonstrates performance and leadership that is broad enough to improve the care for a group of patients. Responsible for the documented outcomes at the program or service level. Performs comprehensive health, gender/age specific history. Uses advanced clinical skills in performing procedures, assessing, analyzing, planning, evaluating, and documenting patient care. Discriminates between normal and abnormal findings to establish diagnosis. Initiates appropriate response to emergency health problems. Includes patient and/or family in establishing realistic and measurable goals for the plan of care. Orders, and evaluates appropriate diagnostic tests, treatment, and referrals/consultations to other clinical services. Documents and reports care in a timely manner. Initiates, evaluates, and changes orders for non-controlled, non-experimental medications. Maintains appropriate clinical privileges and age-related competencies for selected population with episodic and chronic health problems. Works in the designated setting consistent with the collaborating physician's area of and function and/or within the CRNP's specialty Scope of Practice which is defined as those functions and procedures which the CRNP is qualified by formal education, clinical training, area of certification, and experience to perform. Collaborates with physicians, peers, and other members of the Vaccination Team Demonstrates leadership in improving patient care to effect improvement of Patient Care. Consults with appropriate administrative staff of CAVHCS to resolve concerns and unmet needs of veterans. Reads and documents health appraisal data necessary to maintain, coordinate and/or expedite required services. Utilizes the computerized patient record for documentation of clinical assessment, plan of care, ongoing management, and outcomes. Performed other duties as assigned. Work Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. (Possible weekends) Financial Disclosure Report: Not required
