San Luis Valley Health is the only organization offering childbirth in the San Luis Valley. This leader will have accountability for 30 FTEs, and roughly 500 deliveries per year. Candidates must have three years’ experience in an inpatient OB department, previous management experience preferred, BSN required.

For this director-level position, we offer a $5K relocation and $10K sign-on bonus for a four year commitment and competitive salary and benefits package.
The successful candidate will possess the following qualifications and skills:
Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing, Bachelor's Degree required within four years of accepting position
Currently licensed as a Registered Nurse in the State of Colorado
Minimum of 3 years nursing experience in an obstetrics department
Certified in Basic Life Support, STABLE, and Neonatal Resuscitation Program
Must be able to effective present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, patients, and the general public and display an understanding of regulatory requirements to ensure department meets Conditions of Participation and/or regulatory requirements necessary to maintain patient safety.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
Assume 24-hour responsibility for the department through delegation to staff members and availability by phone or pager when on call for the organization.
Assist, plan, implement, and evaluate the delivery of care according to accepted nursing and hospital standards of care.
Develop policies and procedures, recommend appropriate plans of action to provide a safe, clean, and secure environment for staff, patients, and the public.
Demonstrate sensitivity to ethical and legal issues of nursing practice by cooperating with the medical staff and other hospital departments. Serves as a clinical resource person and assist in assessing patient/family status to plan nursing care.
Plan, develop, and implement the budgetary process for the obstetrics department.
Organize and attend necessary staff, manager, medical, ethical, and hospital meetings as well as organize routine meetings to keep staff informed of hospital and unit goals.
Remain current in all activities related to Performance Improvement and Patient Safety Initiatives.
