University of Maryland Medical Center is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) to join our state-of-the-art Blood and Marrow Transplant (BMT) unit, which is dedicated solely to the care of transplant patients and their families.
What You Need to Be Successful: • Graduation from an accredited school of nursing, with a Bachelor's degree in Nursing preferred. • Licensure as a Registered Nurse in the state of Maryland, or eligible to practice due to compact state requirements outlined by the Maryland Board of Nursing.
Bone Marrow Transplant (BMT) Unit: Our transplant program is recognized as a Center of Excellence by major health insurance and transplant networks and is accredited by FACT based on rigorous national standards in the field of cellular therapy product transplantation. Our experts are actively engaged in research into new ways to treat patients with cancer, including graft engineering and immunotherapy (using the body's own immune system to fight cancer).
We are a close knit unit who work as a team. Nurses are viewed as colleagues in our partnership with the medical team with a multi-discipline approach to care. This includes providing integrated care working with the physicians, social workers, pharmacist and nurse practitioners.
Our patient ratio during the day shift is 3:1. You will have the opportunity to build relationships with families and many times patients will return to the unit to give updates and say Thank You.
Many of our staff have worked together for more than ten years.
